Exiting a Student from Special Education

There are several situations when you might need to exit a student from special education:

  • The student graduates from high school or ages out.
  • The student leaves your school district.
  • The student and parent request the student be taken off the IEPClosed.
  • The student withdraws from school.
  • The student is ineligible for special education services.

Exiting a student might occur from completing a workflowClosed, or you might need to manually exit the student with the 'Exit from Special Education' option. Users with the appropriate privilege can use this option, which essentially is overriding the special education status.

When exiting the student, the following occurs:

  • The student’s Special Education status is changed to Exited.
  • Draft IEPs are changed to Discarded.
  • Active IEPs  are changed to Previous.

Note: This does not affect or change any workflows for the student. You need to delete or amend those separately.
